Answered Prayers Lead to Milo
Diana Quiroz, a sophomore at Milo Adventist Academy in Days Creek, Ore., was raised in an Adventist Christian home in southern California. She knew her Bible well and went to church at least twice a week with her family. But in public school last year, Quiroz fought a constant battle in her mind.

An all-organic and non-GMO agriculture program is being developed at Milo Adventist Academy in Days Creek, Ore. The two primary goals of the new program are to give the students an experience cultivating fruits and vegetables and to put good, wholesome food on the table in the cafeteria.
Milo Hosts Second Arts and Technology Camp
More than 120 middle school students participated in Milo Adventist Academy’s second annual Arts and Technology Camp in Days Creek Feb. 28–March 1. The camp is designed to give small church school and home school students a chance to explore topics they might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.
Milo Shares Music in Roseburg
Milo Adventist Academy’s music department performed “Lenten Meditations in Music” on Feb. 19 during a special Friday service at First Presbyterian Church in Roseburg, Oregon. The church has a lunchtime concert series each Friday during Lent to help prepare its members spiritually for Easter.
Milo's Camp Umpqua Expands
Milo Adventist Academy’s Camp Umpqua in Days Creek is expanding. Six new cabins have been framed in, and plans are in progress to complete the project in 2016 so that the camp will be available for church retreats and Pathfinder camporees.
Community Connections Made at Milo
Milo Academy Church’s inaugural Community Connection event on Aug. 9, 2015, by all accounts was a resounding success. The church presented a free picnic supper at the historic Milo Academy bridge for all residents of the Milo, Days Creek and Tiller communities.
Milo Joins Oregon Adventist Men’s Chorus for Benefit Concert
Nine young men and four staff members from Milo Adventist Academy in Days Creek joined the Oregon Adventist Men’s Chorus (OAMC) on Nov. 14, 2015, for the worship service at the Milo Academy Church and a benefit concert at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg. The performance raised more than $3,000 to assist victims’ family members and survivors of the October mass shooting on the college campus.

Milo Adventist Academy Escapes Wildfire
Flames leaped from tree tops sending a huge column of smoke billowing from the ridge just south of Milo Adventist Academy in Days Creek on July 30. The Stouts Creek Fire, which was first reported at 1 p.m., grew to 200 acres in the first three hours. Students and staff gathered in the parking lot to watch, wondering what would happen to their school.

Maranatha's Ultimate Workout for Teens Turns 25
See page 13 of Maranatha's The Volunteer magazine. Volunteers on the Ultimate Workout 25 at Milo Adventist Academy had no idea work could be so much fun. UW25 featured several community outreach opportunities that included fixing up a widow's home. Teens worked by day and camped at night with plenty of time for fun and worship at the secluded campground.

Two Maranatha Groups Impact Milo Adventist Academy
More than 130 volunteers with Maranatha Volunteers International worked on the Milo Adventist Academy in Oregon as part of two different projects this summer. School leadership requested Maranatha’s help in renovating the 61-year old campus with projects ranging from landscaping and maintenance, to building new cabins for the youth camp on their 408-acre property.
Milo Summer Work Program Grows
This summer, 38 students worked at Milo Adventist Academy in Days Creek, Ore., to help pay for their tuition this fall. Students had worship every morning at 8 a.m., then divided up into crews for the day. Activities included helping in the cafeteria, landscaping, maintenance, painting, cleaning, waxing classroom floors, working in Advanced Assembly, assisting in the office and other tasks as needed.
First U.S. Ultimate Workout a Success!
In late June, Maranatha successfully completed the first Ultimate Workout in the United States. Approximately 90 people participated in the mission trip at Milo Adventist Academy, a third of whom were Milo students enrolled in a summer work program. The rest of the volunteers were from all over the United States, and one who came all the way from the Bahamas. On the project, volunteers demolished old decks and rebuilt new ones on staff housing, painted the interior of the boys and girls dorms, and completed several landscaping projects on the sprawling academy grounds.
Milo Students Take Mission Trip to Panama
During Spring Break, March 12–25, 20 students and six adult volunteers, staff and parents from Milo Adventist Academy in Days Creek traveled to Panama for their 2015 mission project with Maranatha Volunteers International.
"Ultimate" Mission Project in the U.S.
In June Maranatha kicked off the first Ultimate Workout to take place in the United States—and so far the project has been a success. Ninety volunteers have been busy renovating various buildings at Milo Adventist Academy in Milo, Oregon.

Students Show Courage at Milo's Prayer Retreat
Thirty teenagers at Milo Adventist Academy in Days Creek volunteered to sleep on a wood floor and skip three meals during the student association (SA) Prayer Weekend. SA sponsors Dale and Darla Milam planned a variety of activities to help students connect to God and have empathy for suffering people around the world.
Ten Freshmen Receive Full Scholarships to Milo Adventist Academy
Oregon Conference Educational Superintendent Gale Crosby contacted Randy Thornton, Milo Adventist Academy principal, with some unbelievable news. An anonymous donor was willing to sponsor an unlimited number of Adventist ninth graders currently not attending an Adventist school.
Milo Opens New Equestrian Center
Milo Adventist Academy horses are no longer housed in greenhouses turned into makeshift barns in Days Creek. The new barn, created in the former Thunderbird wood factory, has 15 stalls, a classroom, an office, a tack room and a large indoor arena where students can work with their horses in all kinds of weather. An existing structure adjacent to the pasture has been expanded to provide an outdoor shelter for the horses.
